A Brethren Church was started in 1919 and met in the Liberal Club in High Street. By 1922 they wete meeting in the Wellmeadow Hall. A church was built in Queen Street in 1962. In the 1990s/2000s they rebranded to become Bethany Evangelical Church.

This Brethren hall is situated in a town situation in Paisley. It has brick walls, covered with pebble dash, and a corrugated iron roof. When last visited it was in good condition and in full ecclesiastical use. Researched by P. Kerr, compiled by J. Dowling, 2/4/2004.
The building has a main core with a pitched roof and flat roofed sections to the west and east. It is aligned essentially east/west wih the west being the entrance. It has the foundation layers faced with reconstitute stone blocks and the wall coated with pebble-dashing. The upstand between the flat roofs and pitched roof is in timber cladding. The main roof has corrugated sheeting and the flat roofs have mineral felting.
