A church was formed in 1865 and met in a private house in Wilson Street. By 1867 they were meeting in the Bath Hall, in Bath Street. The church was built in 1929 as Largs Gospel Hall but was renamed as Brisbane Evangelical Church in 1993. A hall added in about 1995 and the church refurbished in 2000.
The church gabled to School Street with the east side on Boyd Street. The roof is still slated and the masonry has been harled. The gable has been altered to create a new entrance and the one on the entrance porch to the west shut up. The entrance which is a modern two-leaf minimally glazed panelled door, has above it a round-topped Venetian style window. On either side is a rectangular six-paned window and above all the windows a hood moulding. The east wall has five large rectangular six-paned windows. The small flat-roofed porch to the east has been closed up except for a small window.
