This Free Church was built in 1858 to replace the church in Ritchie Street. Campbell Douglas was the architect and it was built in Gothic style. In 1900 at the union with the United Presbyterian Church it became Millport East United Free Church and at the union with the Church of Scotland it became Millport East Church. A house, Ardenlea, in Marine Parade was gifted as a manse by Miss Scott. The original manse became a hotel – Mansewood). In 1971 it united with the Parish Church to become Millport Cumbrae Church. Shortly after that the building was converted to a holiday home. However, by 2013 the home had closed and the building was lying empty.
The building is roughly orientated north/south and is set back off Glasgow Street. On Glasgow Street there is a wall and pillars. The wall is cut by small pointed arches. The entrance on the south gable is a tall pointed arch with two entrances above which is the carving of the burning bush and the text “Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His Name”. Between the two doors is a round pink polished granite column with an ornate capital. The pointed arch has multiple orders of mouldings. To the sides are smallish lancet windows with pointed trefoils lights. Above is a pointed arch window containing four pointed trefoils, three large round-lobed trefoils and tracery. The large belfry has a pointed arch window back and front which contains a round trefoil and tracery. The bell has been removed. The east side has six bays, five of which have full-height lancet windows while the second from north bay has a shorter lancet with below it a slightly pointed entrance. The north gable has a double storey pitched roof building against it which possibly includes a chancel and offices. Above this is are two small pointed trefoil windows with in the centre and set higher a rectangular window. At some point an enclosed stair has been built against the west wall of this transverse building. The north wall of the rear building has a series of domestic style windows at both levels. There are four on the first floor and three on the ground floor. On either side of the three are entrances. That on the west is simple rectangular while on the east it has a slightly pointed arch. The west side wall appears to have six full -height lancet windows.
Electric lighting was not installed until the 1950s.
