A Congregational Church was formed in 1807 as Sanquhar Congregational Church. It, however, was dissolved in about 1820. Where the congregation met has not been established.
An Evangelical Union Church was formed in 1864 and a church built in 1865 in Station Road. Between 1951 and 1960 the congregation moved to the original Free Church in St Mary's Street. The building was sold and has been converted to a workshop.
The building is aligned north west/south east with the entrance porch in the east (say) gable. It is roughcast and the roof is in corrugated sheeting. The bulding has been much altered and little can be deduced from what remains. The side walls had three bays with large windows.
