In 1845 a Free Church congregation were meeting in the Sun Inn, Newmilns. A year later they had a church built off King Street. The mason for this work was James Anderson, wrights was J & T Hood, plaster workers were Kinloch & Elder, slater was John Lawson and plumber was Lawson of Kilmarnock. In 1900 it united with the United Presbyterian Church to become Loudoun East United Free Church. At the union with the Church of Scotland it became Loudoun East Church. In 1980 the congregation united with the Old Parish Church and the church was closed. It was demolished in 1986.
The church started as a simple rectangle with a small south entrance porch and a chancel(?) to the rear. The south gable had a small belfry tower with louvre lancet windows. The entrance had a semi-circular top and above three slightly graded lancet windows. To either side were a tall lancet window. By 1896 two small additions had been made to the rear of the building and by 1910 a hall had been erected to the rear west.
