The church started from St Joseph’s in 1974 and building erected in 1974/77 to the designs of Sam Gilchrist. It incorporates a mosaic by Alan potter of London.

The church is essentially aligned north west/south east at right angles to the carriageway. It is in reconstituted granite blockwork with a single pitched roof in proprietary sheeting. To the north east and north west is the halls and offices which have flat roofs with proprietary sheeting. The entrance on the south east is via two recesses double-leaf glazed doors in a flat-roofed vestibule. There is a simple metal cross on this façade. To the east is a simple single door entrance to the halls. The main windows for the church are on the high side of the single pitched roof. There are essentially continuous but split into a random pattern of panes. On the low side of this roof is a similar pattern of glazing which continuous along a corridor to the presbytery. On this face also is the mosaic by Alan Potter. It depicts a variety of Christian symbols including those of the four evangelists. There is also access to the link corridor via glazed doors. The hall has a large entrance on the north west side as well as two square windows on either side.
The church and hall are connected by demountable doors. The interior is simple plasterwork which is painted.
