Wallace's Cave-Chapel (?), Lugar Water, Mauchline, Ayrshire


A cave cut into red sandstone on the side of the Lugar Water has been formed into a “cell” with groined arches on the roof and a splayed door and window. It is possibly that denoted on the Ordnance survey sheets as Wallace’s Cave. The date of this man-made “chapel” is unknown.
